Texas Wildflowers blooming in galleries in New York, Vermont

Wildflower paintings by Texas artist Linda Calvert Jacobson are now being exhibited in galleries in New York City and Stowe, Vermont.

Paint Box Art and Frame, located in Manhattan’s West Village, began carrying Jacobson’s art after owner Hashmat Farooqui met the artist at the 2012 International Artexpo, held in late March in New York City.

“Mr. Farooqui approached me at the expo and invited my husband and I to come by his gallery to see the location and space,” Jacobson said. “We visited twice, once at night and again during the day, and were very pleased with both the gallery and vibrant neighborhood of West Village. It’s a trendy area of Manhattan, centrally located in the arts community.”

Another gallery owner, Bob O’Toole, briefly met Jacobson at Artexpo and was immediately struck by her wildflowers. O’Toole contacted the artist after the show with an invitation to exhibit her work at Robert Paul Galleries in Stowe, Vermont.

“I’m thrilled to have been invited to exhibit with Robert Paul Galleries,” Jacobson said. “This is a great opportunity to get my wildflowers in an area known as a vacation destination for people around the world.”

Robert Paul Galleries can be found at 394 Mountain Rd., Stowe, VT,  phone 802-253-7282; http://www.robertpaulgalleries.com.

Paint Box Art & Frame is located at the corner of Hudson and Christopher streets in New York City, phone (212) 727-3913; www.paintboxartandframing.com.

A native of Texas, Jacobson paints her vibrant wildflowers from her studio in the Texas Hill Country. While the paintings are inspired by flowers of her native Texas, the contemporary, somewhat abstract look appeals to art and nature lovers around the world. Her paintings are in collections in the U.S. and abroad. The images have also been licensed and used on a line of limited-edition watches sold in the U.K. and Germany and on a line of greeting cards sold in Australia, New Zealand and the U.K.
